Low - Carb Homemade Pizza Sauce
This Pizza Sauce or tomato sauce recipe is easy to make and is a delicious alternative to store-bought pizza sauce. Using fresh ingredients and some basic steps, you will be able to make homemade pizza sauce for your next pizza night. This pizza sauce is vegan, keto and low- carb and inspired by the keto tomato ketchup by Headbangers kitchen.
So let's jump into the ingredients -
Ingredients
300 grams Tomato
10 grams garlic
15 grams Butter
2 green Chillies
Salt to Taste
Pepper to taste
Chilli powder for colour
Crushed Oregano
1 Tbsp Vinegar
1 Tsp Soya Sauce ( can add more)
Method
Step 1
Blend the garlic, chillies and tomatoes in a blender to make a puree
Step 2
The original recipe calls to sieve the puree but as its a rustic reduced sauce I avoid this step.
Thus, for a chunkier version, you stop pureeing the tomatoes sooner, when there are still some bits of tomato left. For a smooth version, you can chop the tomatoes finely first and then puree them very well.
Step 3
Heat the butter in a heavy bottom saucepan and once melted add in the tomato garlic chilli puree. Cook down for 5-7 minutes stirring constantly to ensure nothing sticks.
Step 4
Add in salt, pepper, chilli powder*, vinegar and soya sauce.Cover and cook down till it's a thick sauce consistency(may take some time). Sprinkle some Oregano & then remove from the heat and let it cool. Transfer to a bottle and store in the fridge.
I use this for my pizzas, bread, burgers and whole roasted cauliflower.
* the colour of the sauce will depend on the tomatoes hence to get a stronger red colour one can additionally add chilli powder.
