Healthy Seed Cracker
Multi Seed Cracker is a gluten free crisp cracker with a flavour profile of nutty and delicious. The seed crackers are an ideal match for any dip, chutney or salsa. The preparation takes no time and ingredients even simpler with just 4-5 simple seeds in a bowl. You probably have most of them in your pantry.
So let's jump into the ingredients -
Ingredients
1/3 cup Flax seeds2 tbsp flax meal(ground flax seeds)
1/2 cup Chia seeds
1/2 cup Sunflower seeds
1/2 cup Pumpkin seeds
Sesame seeds(optional)
1 teaspoon salt
Optional-additional seasonings of dried herbs(oregano/thyme/onion powder)
1 cup water
Method
1.Preheat the oven to 150—180C. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
Recipes call it to bake at low temperature so as to crisp up the cracker. If using high temperature of 180 C (to make the process quicker) one has to be watchful as can easily burn the crackers(I did burn hence a warning). The crackers can take up 1 to 1.5 hours of baking time at low temperature( 150C).
2.In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together plus seasonings. Mix together. Pour the water over the seed/seasoning mixture. Let sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the flax meal and chia seeds to thicken, like a gel.
(can also refrigerate overnight)
3.Once the mixture has thickened, use a spatula to spread the mixture in an even layer onto the greased parchment paper about 1/4 inch thick or less.
4.Bake for 25-30 minutes and then remove from oven and slice into squares with knife or pizza cutter.
5.Flip the crackers over and put them back in the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
If too thin it may burn(so to keep a watch on the oven)
Enjoy the cracker and store in an airtight container.
