Sambaram Recipe | Moru Vellam | Spiced Buttermilk

Spiced , Tangy and Delicious summer drink Anyone?

So Sambaram or moru vellam or just spiced butter milk is a refreshing drink made by blending curd with water, chilli, ginger, shallots and salt. It not only helps in digestion but also helps beat the heat in summers. The key would be to serve it chilled as gives a refreshing feel to the whole body.

So lets quickly dive in


INGREDIENTS
1 cup = 250ml
Curd - 1 cup
Cold Water -  around 2 cups 
2 green chillies 
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Small onion/shallots  - 6
Salt and black salt  as per requirement 

Method 
Blend  all the ingredients in a mixer ( adding water in intervals).

Either seive the buttermilk mixture if you want to avoid the coarse pieces of shallots, chillies and curry leaves orelse just pour it directly into the glasses.
 If your prefer to drink it cooled refrigerate it for half an hour before serving. 
Serve with a sprinkle of black salt and Enjoy!
