Review: Sabudana Khichidi
Sabudana khichidi or Sago Khichidi is one of the most popular fasting dish that is made with sago pearls, boiled potatoes, roasted peanuts. Its rich and is loaded with carbohydrates and proteins hence making the dish a wholesome and filling snack. As a South Indian, we traditionally used sago in our Payasam but khichidi was unheard of until I came to Pune. The first time that I ever tasted Sabudana Khichidi was from a friends lunch box and since then its been my favorite and every birthday breakfast dish.
So in the initial times we made it, not only did the khichidi ended up being very oily but the pearls stuck together and that definitely was not the correct way. So, it was quite recently that we learnt the trick of adding crushed peanuts and also the soaking time and honestly that changed the texture and taste of the Sabudana khichidi.
The recipe and the chef whose recipe I use for making Sabudana khichidi is Sanjyot
Keer (Recipe Link - Sabudana Khichidi) . So if you are a first timer or beginner for making this khichidi his recipe is the easiest and best to follow.
