Bitter Gourd Chips | Air Fryer Bitter Gourd Chips | Karela Chips

Bitter Gourd Chips in Air fryer is a crispy ,healthy and very easy snack made easily at home with just few ingredients ! Enjoy as a healthy snack or as a side with your meal ! Vegan and gluten free too !




Ingredients 
300 g chopped and cleaned bitter gourd 
100 g sliced onions 
2 to 3 green chillies sliced in the centre
7 to 9 curry leaves 
3 tbsp of thin slices of coconut 
Turmeric powder and salt 
1-2 tbsp Coconut oil 


Method 
1.Wash the bitter gourd and trim the edges. Cut them into small rounds or semi circles (less than ¼ inch thickness) and remove the seeds and the flesh from the center . This should approx be around 270 to 300 g.

2. Now add this into a bowl followed by onions, Chilli,  curry leaves, coconut slices, turmeric powder , salt and coconut oil.


3. Mix this well preferably using the hand and leave it for 20 to 25 minutes  so that the water comes out. Now squeeze the karela mix and place it onto another bowl or plate.Squeeze it well 😀


4.Air Fry the bitter gourd:
Preheat your air fryer as per the manual. I usually preheat it for 5 minutes at 190
deg C.

After preheating, place the squeezed bitter gourd in the air fryer tray. Do not overcrowd the tray .

Air fry the first time  for 8  to 9 minutes at 180 deg C .  Shake and put it again at 160 C for 5 minutes , followed by another shake and repeat of 160 for 5 minutes. If required another 5 minutes but one needs to keep an eye out as can easily go from fry karela to burnt karela.
